Traveling into Birmingham, AL to visit the Barber Vintage Motorcycle Museum – I was expecting an amazing viewing but received even more and a honor while there! I had read about this little gem in the AMA magazine earlier this year and met up with one of my motorcycle world traveling friends to view the awesome collection.
Down in the restoration area there sits two columns. These pillars are not only for support but are filled with signatures by visitors from the likes of Jay Leno, Evil Knievel, Richard Petty, Johnny Rutherford, Craig Vetter…and they asked if I would join the list! What an honor, and wonderful for them to have the same belief in me that I will break the record. Thank you so much! (and watch out for the episode 3 – month 3 webisode–this will be featured there!)
If you don’t know of this museum, I hope this write-up inspires a visit: “Home to the world’s best motorcycle collection, the museum now has over 1200 vintage and modern motorcycles and racecars and the largest collection of Lotus cars as well as other significant makes. The collection is the largest of its kind in the world. There are approximately 600 of the 1200 motorcycles on display at any given time. These bikes range from 1902 to current-year production. The museum displays common street bikes as well as rare one-off Gran Prix race machinery.”
I had a wonderful time and not only is the collection impressive but the staff are well educated in the history that these walls hold. See more pictures in the gallery – http://bt2bt.smugmug.com/Barbers-Vintage-Motors/
