The journey to Pakistan is an adventure all its own when you think about the hours it takes to cross the world! With that being said it turned out wonderfully. I watched a few good independent films (for all my movie buffs – one called “This Beautiful Fantastic” and “The Road Within”) match that with a nice nights sleep as I had all three seats to myself. For a 15 hour flight, it felt rather short which was the best one could ask for.
During the flight, a few of the other riders would pop over and we would have chats about project ideas, the journey and just sharing our experiences – so the row of seats worked well for many reasons. And the vegetarian selection of food was delicious.
Then came the flight from Dubai to Pakistan and the row was full. And again fate aligned as I sat next to a young woman who is Pakistani but has lived in Zimbabwe most of her life. She is now in the 8th grade and has just completed her pilgrimage in Suadi Arabia and is coming back to Pakistan to see all of her family and celebrate. We chatted for a long time, and here sits this young lady full of life, bright, and oh yeah when we were not chatting she was working on a book she is writing…did I mention 8th grade? What a wonderful entrance to start by making a friend with Shifa, her aunt, and father. All very kind and her soul just radiates a beauty and kindness of a woman, not a teen, I was impressed with her and honored to have sat with them and talk of the country and the places I will go with our group. The Welcome to Pakistan has been wonderful and that is just the flight!
