In reference to last weeks blog about 100 goals over the next 10 years, I kicked off 2018 with a goal I had begun brewing on a few years ago. I wanted to spread the power of travel, I was blessed enough to grow up in a traveling family and saw the benefits of it at a young age. I wanted to provide a scholarship to help others experience the great big world we live in. The essay collection takes place between January and Feb. 1st. We have just started to review the outstanding submission.
The goal is to provide a little financial support to our youth and get more people out there experiencing all the amazing parts of the world. There is so much more than the TV screen and Googling a dream, take a chance at this thing called life! We will announce the winner at the end of the month, but while you wait ponder on this statement from one of our submissions:
“If I get the chance to travel outside of what I know to be who I am,
I will discover the qualities f diversity that’ll broaden
my knowledge of the existing world.”
These profound words come from an old soul but in life, he is a young man, just a freshman in high school. Doing a project like this creates growth in the traveler but also growth in myself. I have enjoyed the depth of the writing and am excited to select a winner of our very first Youth Travel Scholarship! Stay Tuned.
